There’s something really special about turning a kitchen from just a place where you cook into the actual heart of the home. For this modern kitchen, I wanted to design something that feels sleek and polished, but still completely welcoming.
This layout includes a wide peninsula that connects the kitchen to the living area. By putting the sink right there in the peninsula counter, whoever is prepping dinner or washing up can still easily chat with family or guests sitting on the other side. It keeps everyone connected rather than sectioning the cook off in their own corner.
To keep the kitchen feeling bright and open, I paired smooth, high-gloss cabinets with warm brass hardware and fixtures. The gold tones bring in a cozy, classic feel that softens the clean, modern look. For a little personality, I added a vertical glass tile backsplash with soft blues and greens that bring out the matching veining in the quartz countertops.
When you’re planning your own kitchen, try to think beyond just the appliances and finishes. Think about how you actually want to feel when you’re standing in the room. Whether you’re hosting a busy Friday night dinner or just enjoying a quiet morning coffee, a great layout should always make those everyday moments feel effortless.
